CAUSEWAY GOLF SOCIETY - The AGM of Causeway Golf Society took place in Hartys Bar & Restaurant recently and the following officers were elected for 2010 President: Tony Grace Captain: Maurice Harty Hon Sec: John Leen Hon Treasurer: Patsy O'Connor The society would like to thank outgoing Captain John Whelan who was an outstanding captain of the society and wish Tony and Maurice all the best for the coming year. The first outing of the year will be a big attraction as we head to Tralee Golf Club in Barrow on March 20th. Tee-time 10.30 - 12noon. Members should advice any of the society officers if they intend travelling. New members will very welcome on the day. While some outings still remain to be booked we will be going to the Irish Open course Killeen in Killarney, the old course in Ballybunion, Adare and Ceann Sibeal. A full schedule of the outings and dates will be available at the first outing. St Patrick's Day Parade - The Parade will leave the Sportsfield at 12pm on Wed Mar 17th Prizes for The best float, The best walking act, Most appropriately dressed Lady and Gent A terrier race will be run-off immediately after the Parade GAA Club Lotto - Lotto Numbers drawn on Monday 1st March - 2,7,8,28 Jackpot not won. Prize winners - 50 - Caroline McEnery, Causeway, Killian Yallop Dooley, Causeway. 25 - Eileen Sheehan, Tom Joe Hayes, Patrick McGrath. Lotto jackpot is 5,800 - Remember If you're not in your can't win! This is the main fundraiser for the GAA Club - please support. GAA Presentation Juvenile Night was held last Friday night. A large crowd attended, it was heartening to see such support. It was an enjoyable night thanks to the kind hospitality received from Ballyroe Heights Hotel. All juveniles were delighted to receive their medals for 2009. Hopefully 2010 will prove to be as successful with even more silverware. GAA Club congratulates the Comprehensive School team on their massive All Ireland win against Loughrea last weekend in the U16 1⁄2 competition. This is the second year in a row for the school to win this All Ireland title. It is a huge boost for the future of hurling in Kerry. Well done to their trainer Maurice Leahy and to Willie Dowling and John Joe Delaney who mentored the team throughout the competition and to Maurice Fitzgerald for his First Aid expertise. Well done to the team and all involved along the way. Congratulations to our own Club boys who were part of the team and to Muiris Delaney who was captain. The club boys were Muiris Delaney (capt), Tommy Barrett, Paul McGrath, Darren Leahy, Sean Leahy and Keith Carmody. It was a very proud day for the school, the clubs and the county. GAA Fixtures and Results: Causeway U15s played and won well in their match against Abbeydorney last Sunday evening. The team was as follows-Stephen Murphy, Brian Cantillon, Jason Diggins, Billy Lyons, Keith Carmody, Darragh O'Connor, Jamie Barrett, Brandon Barrett, Joseph Diggins, Kieran Barrett, Kevin Burke, Alan Carey, Kevin Guerin, Eoin McKivergan, Michael Lynch, Dylan Goggin. We will be playing semi final of this competition next Sunday evening at 4pm. Venue to be decided. The senior match v Ardfert was postponed last Saturday due to the School match but may be played this Saturday at 4pm in Causeway, no further details at time going to press.
