Cashen Vale Boxing Club
Gym upgrade: A boxing club's dream of having a state of the art Gym in which to train their members is in all probability about to happen. The Cashen Vale Club which is based in the Ballybunion Community Centre was the recipients of good news last December that their application to the IABA for development funding had been successful. At a hastily convened meeting with the trustees of the centre it was agreed that an Architect would be asked to draw up plans, get tenders, and submit them to the IABA for selection. The club has now received Approval to proceed with the development. Although faced with a short-fall of about six thousand Euros; this small problem was partially solved by all the boxers volunteering to do the painting, cleaning, and organising a fund raiser .This magnificent gesture has not gone unnoticed. Last Saturday the producers of the RTE programme "Dirty old town" which is fronted by Diarmud Gavin came on board after they visited the Gym. After discussing procedural matters with the club, it was agreed that both work and filming would proceed immediately. The programme should be on your screens in early summer. Competitions: Well done to all the boxers who competed in Roscrea and Dublin last weekend. A very special
