BALLYDUFF DISPENSARY 1881: On Monday March 7th 1881 Dr. Burton Jackson, M.D wrote a letter from his residence at Milford, Ballyduff to the Local Government Board. He requested that they press on the Listowel Board of Guardians to obtain a loan from the Board of Public Works to commence the erection of a new (Local) Dispensary House about the first of April when the weather would be suitable for all building operations. He stated "The present house is quite unfit for the purpose intended, and the want of a proper waiting room for patients is a very serious inconvenience, particularly at this season of the year when the attendance is so large". It was an excellent day for golf with the course was in pristine condition and there were some good scores returned. The overall winner was Neilus Slattery who scored a magnificent 39 points which included birdies on the 8th & 15th holes. DEATH: The death took place of Patrick Tony O'Sullivan, The Cashen, Ballyduff. His remains were removed from Lawlor's Funeral Home, Ballyduff to SS Peter's & Paul's Church, Ballyduff. Burial was in Rahela Cemetery. Sympathy is extended to his family, relatives and friends. CHRISTMAS SWIM: The Christmas Day swim in aid of Causeway Comhaltas Fleadh Cheoil Fund takes place at Meenoghane Pier at 11.30am on this Friday. Everybody is welcome especially swimmers.
