A chara, The arctic-like conditions of the past three weeks are causing huge problems for communities throughout the country and the late response from the Government is a disgrace and an insult to the taxpayers.
People have been without water and heat for days on end. Some people cannot afford money for fuel at this stage and a special allowance should be made available to these people immediately.
Did the ministers all have their heads buried in the sand for the last three weeks as it took so long for them to notice the plight of ordinary people trying to get to work, farmers trying to look after their stock and children trying to get to schools.
Just because they themselves had little or no hardship â?“ or were on holidays â?“that does not mean that the rest of the citizens of this country did not have to get on with their lot.
They all appeared after they thought Dublin would be frozen over for the weekend â?“ God forbid the capital should grind to a halt. I hope the electorate remember this the next time these politicians come looking for votes.
