Coghlan takes over as chamber chief

Wednesday March 10 2010

THE newly-elcted president of Killarney Chamber of Commerce, is Mr. Paul Coghlan, who takes over office from the long serving previous incumbent in the office, Paddy MacMonagle.

Paddy MacMonagle retired from the position this year after holding the position for five years, since the revival of the chapter in Killarney.

Paul said that the Chamber of Commerce was interested in everything that concerned the people of the town from commercial point of view and added that it was obviously interested in the recent prices survey and felt it was unfair that Killarney suffered so much adverse publicity as a result.

One of the items planned for the near future by the Chamber is the Chamber is the setting up of a computer appreciation evening, and they would also have discussions on the future physical development of Killarney.

Chamber have passed a resolution: "That, prima facie, insufficient planning and control of the work being carried out on the water scheme which has been taking place in New Street leaves much to be desired and the body responsible for such an undertaking should review matters so that such chaotic conditions will not again occur."

This resolution is to be sent to Kerry County Council.
