A CALL has been made to the Irish Transport & General Workers' Union in Killarney to launch a campaign against high prices in the town.
Local branch secretary, Mr. Patrick J. Cronin, told those at the branch's recent annual general meeting: "Everyone knows that to go shopping in Killarney is to be fleeced . . . and it is not before time that we see Killarney being labelled as the dearest shopping town in Ireland.
"Maybe now," he continued, "the Chamber of Commerce and the business interests will respond in a more positive way to the request for an investigation into the prices in Killarney."
In calling on the incoming branch committee to initiate a campaign against the dear prices. Mr. Cronin said: "The challenge is there, let us take it up on behalf of the working classes of this town."
