'AN Evening of Irish Stories, Poetry and Traditional Concertina Music' with Sneem's Batt Burns and Sean O'Dwyer will take place in Tech Amergin Arts Centre, Waterville this Friday at 8.30 pm.
As a youngster Batt Burns experienced the seanachaí (storyteller) tradition firsthand when he lived with his grandfather in the Hills of County Kerry and heard him tell stories by the fire during the harsh winter nights.
Today Burns helps to preserve that Irish heritage with haunting accounts of ghosts, great adventure stories, tales of heroes, farcical stories and witty jokes.
Traditional concertinist, Sean O'Dwyer, hails from the Beara peninsula in West Cork. He belongs to a renowned family of traditional musicians, son of the late concertinist Ella Mae who came from Athea in West Limerick.
Tickets €15 (conc. €12). Bookings on 066 9478956 / admin@techamergin.c om
