Superstars of country hit the INEC

Wednesday January 20 2010

THREE of the biggest names on the Irish entertainment scene have come together for the biggest music event of 2010 in the INEC Killarney.

Jimmy Buckley, Robert Mizzell and Patrick Feeney are joining forces in the venue on Monday, February 1. The trio who have enjoyed massive success and acclaim all over the world as solo artists are confident that after this show they will make country music more popular in Ireland than ever before.

The trio who have enjoyed massive success and acclaim all over the world as solo artists are savouring the task that lies ahead and they are up to the challenge.

"We are all still under 40 and we have fans that range in age from 15 upwards, but for some unknown our genre of music isn't getting the recognition it deserves," stated Jimmy Buckley. "We want to change all that and that is why we have teamed up to tour Ireland with a show that we know will give country music a much needed boost".

Robert Mizzell who hails from Louisiana has now settled in Ireland. "Why is it that our fans are labelled as hillbillies and rednecks by the Irish media? It is so unfair and downright disrespectful! They deserve better! In America, country is more popular than pop and this is recognised by the media in the coverage they give to the sector and every station plays country music but here in Ireland the national radio stations never feature country music on their daytime playlists!"

Mizzell, who to date has recorded numerous albums admits that he has never been included on The Today FM /98FM / or 2FM playlists, even though he performs in front of thousands of fans every week!

"God damn it! It just doesn't make sense! They're not playing us because it's not 'cool' to do so!"

Patrick Feeney is the third member of the team. The 27 year old from Sligo concurs with his team mates, "Miley Cyrus is a country singer and she is played wall to wall on every station! The same treatment is given to Garth Brooks and rightly so but if you're a country singer from Ireland, you're treated like a leper by the media and it's simply not fair! If we didn't have local radio supporting us, this industry which employs over 2,000 people would be doomed."

The Killarney event is a must for followers of country and Irish music and with the addition of a seven-piece-band, fans will also be treated to an unrivalled variety of hits from the Rock 'n' Roll era right up to the present day.

For Jimmy Buckley singing and music play a huge part in his life. He speaks of superstars Elvis and Buddy Holly as among his greatest early influences. Jimmy plays guitar, and his first professional stage appearance was made on August 20, 1991.

His career is going from strength to strength and he is destined to be a huge star . He is already one of the top entertainers in Ireland and aims to conquer the English country market, while breaking into Europe is also on his list.

After his massive hit song 'Your Wedding Day' Jimmy conquered the Irish music scene and he continues to make his mark on the concert scene in England.

Robert Mizzell moved from Louisiana to Ireland when he decided to pursue his dream to be a country music star. He served his apprenticeship in Country Music since he first arrived here and is now one of the top country artists in Ireland.

As anyone who ever attended a Robert Mizzell show will testify, Robert with his band The Country Kings put on an energy filled show. Brimming with country flavour, his shows appeal to audiences in Nashville and wherever country music is popular. He is honored to have been able to record with Collin Raye this year.

Patrick Feeney began his music career as the lead singer of the Johnny Loughrey Band.

He then went on to form his own band and went professional in the music business at the tender age of 19.

After recording and gigging the country music dance scene on a full time basis for a number of years, Patrick decided that he would like to expand his musical horizons, in the form of the 'Irish Connection' tour.

This show, which has truly taken off during 2008, clearly demonstrates Patrick's love of traditional Irish ballads, and his talent for dance - he even includes the ageold, nearly lost art of Irish brush dancing!
