Summer cabaret swings into Killarney hotel

The High Kings are one of the highlights of the Summer Cabaret season in the Gleneagle Hotel, Killarney.

THE Gleneagle Summer Cabaret is set to swing into action with world renowned acts including The High Kings, Brendan Shine and the Dublin City Ramblers all lining up to take to the stage.
Numerous other stalwarts of the Gleneagle Summer Cabaret also return to the legendary Ballroom across July and August including The Showband Show, Lightning Strikes 80‚s Show, The Fureys and Davy Arthur, Dickie Rock and Brendan Bowyer.
The High Kings head up the 2010 cabaret with a total of ten must see shows across July and August. With numerous accolades to their name including Best Newcomer and Best Folk Act from The Irish Music Awards, The High Kings are a formidable force of the Irish folk music scene.
Renowned for their musical pedigree and incredible skills as multi-instrumentalists, The High Kings bring a rousing acoustic flavour to brand new songs as well as some old favourites.
Following on from the success of their platinum selling debut album, they released their follow up album, Memory Lane, earlier this year. This album features well loved ballads, given a High Kings make over. Tracks include, Step it out Mary, The Green Fields of France, Star of the County Down, and the much anticipated collaboration with the Wolfe Tones, On The One Road.
Gleneagle favourite, Brendan Shine, and his many famous hits including Do You Want Your Oul Lobby Washed Down and Shoe The Donkey takes to the stage every Tuesday night throughout July and August.
The ever-popular Lightning Strikes are set to rock audiences every Monday night with their medley of 80's music hits.
Showband enthusiasts can dance back in time with Brendan Bowyer, Dickie Rock and Keith McDonald and The Showband Show on select dates.
While Sunday nights herald the return of Country Sunday with performances by Ireland‚s best country stars including Robert Mizelle, Patrick Feeney, Trudi Lawler, John McNicholl, TR Dallas, Declan Nerney, Louise Morrissey and more.
The Joe Dolan Tribute show features Paschal Brennan performing a repertoire of Joe‚s numerous hits including Deeper and Deeper and Goodbye Venice along with many of the showband eras greatest songs including Amarillo, Sweet Caroline, Love Grows Where My Rosemary Goes and Saturday Night At The Movies takes place on Saturday nights.
Irish folk enthusiasts not only have The High Kings to look forward to, the cabaret line-up also includes performances by The Dublin City Ramblers and The Fureys and Davy Arthur. While the hit show, Fine Girl Ye Are — a tribute show celebrating the legendary story of The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem, performed by ballad group The Kilkennys, continues on select dates throughout July and August.
