'Six Terrible Women' unleashed
Wednesday August 18 2010
STORYTELLER Eddie Lenihan will be recounting the tales of infamous Irish women with the launch of his latest CD.
'Six Terrible Women' is the Brosna native's fourth collection of stories available on CD. A hugely popular storyteller, Eddie has written numerous books, recorded CDs and was the star of his own television series on RTÉ.
One of the few seanchaithe left in Ireland, he thinks that people should take more interest in the art of storytelling. "People don't know what they're missing. Years ago, if a man couldn't tell a story he was shunned from the community," said Eddie.
His latest offering consists of the tales of women such as Maire Rua, Petticoat Loose and Biddy Earley. They are known as 'terrible' as they terrified people, but not neccessarily because they were bad people.
"Six Terrible Woman is about formidable women," said Eddie. "It would make a nice present for the girlfriend."
Published by Claddagh Records, 'Six Terrible Women' is on sale now in record shops across the county. Alternatively, you can contact Eddie at info@eddielenihan.ie for a copy.
