FORMER Stone Roses frontman, Ian Brown comes to the INEC to promote his new 'My Way' album on November 27.
The lead singer of arguably the most influential English rock band of the last 25 years, Ian Brown has led a fascinating career full of highs and lows which have made him legend in the music world.
Stone Roses emerged from Manchester in the late 90s with their masterpiece debut in 1989 which changed the music and fashion of the day. Tracks like I Am The Resurrection and I Wanna Be Adored saw Brown deliver lyrics with a Messianic zeal and catapulted the band to stardom. However, things started to come unstuck while recording the followup, Second Coming, and while it contained some memorable moments, its long gestation period (five years) guaranteed it could never live up to its predecessor.
Intra-band disputes eventually led to the Stone Roses break-up in 1996 but since then Brown has released six albums and enjoyed 14 top 40 singles.
Groups such as Oasis and Artic Monkeys have often referred to Ian Brown's influence on their bands calling him a 'music hero'.
Brown has been nominated for several awards during his music career including many times for Best solo Artist in the Brit Awards.
At the 2006 NME awards, Brown was presented with the 'Godlike Genius' award and in 2007 was given the Q 'Legend' Award.
'My Way' is his sixth solo album and was released on September 28. Brown has said that Micheal Jackson's Thriller was his inspiration for this album.
