Magical beginning to the New Year at INEC

THE new year programme in the INEC just gets better and better every year with Sharon Shannon and special guests Mundy, Shane MacGowan and Imelda May on New Year's Eve while magician Keith Barry comes back with a spectacular show on New Year's Day.

Having rocked the venue last year Sharon, Shane and Mundy will be joined by chart topper Imelda May for what will be the biggest New Year's Eve party in the country. They will herald the beginning of 2010 with rousing anthems such as Galway Girl, Blackbird, Johnny's Got A Boom Boom and Fairytale of New York.

Following the quadruple-platinum selling success of The Galway Girl Album and her two Meteor awards, Sharon Shannon's new album ˆ Saints & Scoundrels is receiving rave reviews from critics and fans alike.

Ex-Pogues frontman Shane MacGowan has enjoyed a controversial career that has seen him share stages, and collaborate, with names such as The Clash, The Jam, Van Morrison, Nick Cave, Johnny Depp, former Thin Lizzy guitarist Brian Robertson and exPink Floyd member Michael Kamen.

Singer-songwriter Mundy began his musical career busking on the streets of Dublin. Fifteen years later, Mundy is a multi-platinum artist who has toured the world and performed with legends such as Van Morrisson, The White Stripes, Neil Diamond, Alanis Morrisette and Oasis. Mundy has enjoyed huge success and many hit records - including July, To You I Bestow, Raining Down Arrows and By Her Side.

Imelda May returns to Killarney following her sell-out show last October. The sultry songstress has dominated the Irish album charts for the last 10 months. Her stunning number one double platinum selling debut, Love Tattoo, has remained in the top 12 for 29 weeks, with hit singles Johnny's Got a Boom Boom and Big Bad Handsome Man attracting massive airplay.

The New Year gets off to a magical start with Keith Barry at the INEC on New Year's Day to perform his brand new show - The Asylum.

Mentalist of the Year 2009 and Best Magician in Las Vegas 2009, Keith has been performing sell-out shows in Killarney since 2005.

He is best known for an array of mystifying talents ranging from hypnotic effects such as inducing temporary amnesia and paralysis, to bizarre magic such as stopping his pulse and dying on stage!

In addition to his other TV appearances including his own MTV show Brainwashed, his hit TV series Close Encounters with Keith Barry and multiple primetime specials on ITV, Keith has recently taken up the mantle of hosting TV3 game show, Deal or No Deal.
