Don't miss Shakin' Stevens in Killarney

Wednesday September 08 2010

SHAKIN' Stevens celebrates 30 years since his first UK hit - Hot Dog and as part of the celebrations he will perform at the INEC Acoustic Club Killarney on Saturday, October 9.

Accompanied by a ten-strong band Stevens will perform new arrangements of his hit songs from across the decades, along with new tracks from his album due for release later in the year. His many hits include Green Door, the self-penned Oh Julie, This Ole House and You Drive Me Crazy.

Stevens remains the UK's 16th highest selling artist in the history of the charts. This success was mirrored across Europe and in many territories world-wide, earning him a multitude of Gold, Platinum and Double Platinum Discs, together with global honours and prestigious industry awards.

In December 2009 Stevens released an ultimate collection box set. The Epic Masters features unique mini vinyl style CDs, a 20 page colour booklet with sleeve notes from the man himself, ten albums, including nine original hit albums each with bonus tracks - 147 tracks, all digitally re-mastered - which sold out its limited edition run within a week.

Shakin' Stevens has a massive and loyal fanbase around the world. Famous fans include Peter Kay (he appeared in his video for the No 1 hit Amarillo), Matt Lucas and David Walliams (who wanted Shaky to appear in the first series of Little Britain), John Simm, Rob Brydon, Hannah Waterman, Natasha Kapinsky, Super Furry Animals, The Young Knives and Elbow amongst many others.

He appeared at the 2008 Glastonbury Festival to huge critical acclaim and the biggest crowd ever seen as the Saturday main stage opener.

Tickets to see Shakin' Stevens live at the INEC Acoustic Club cost €30 and are on sale now. Tel 064 6671555 or log onto www.inec.ie
