Dingle date for acclaimed songwriter
Wednesday August 26 2009
CRITICALLY acclaimed singer Eric Taylor is coming to Dingle next month for one night only.
Eric Taylor is hailed as one of the best performing songwriters around, cited as an influence by Nanci Griffith, Lyle Lovett and Steve Earle. Nanci Griffith calls him the 'William Faulkner of songwriting in our current time", and has covered several of his songs, including 'Storms' (the title track for her Storms CD) and 'Deadwood'.
Lyle Lovett has also recorded Eric's songs, and will include 'Whooping Crane' on his new CD due out on October 20.
Eric's latest CD, Hollywood Pocketknife, has garnered rave reviews from critics and fans alike. Shortly after its release, Eric Taylor and Hollywood Pocketknife were nominated for FolkWax Artist Of The Year and Album Of The Year. Last summer Sing Out! magazine featured one track -"Peppercorn Tree" --on its summer compilation CD.
Eric tours extensively throughout the U.S. and Europe each year. In September he'll be coming to Ireland for some very special shows, including a concert at McCarthy's Bar in Dingle on Friday, September 25.
