15 killed in Mexico border violence

Saturday November 14 2009

Fifteen people, including a child, three women and a university professor, have been killed in a single day in the violent Mexican border city of Ciudad Juarez.

State prosecutor's spokesman Arturo Sandoval said a seven-year-old boy was travelling with his father in a pickup truck when gunmen opened fire on Friday killing them both.

Three women were shot to death in two separate incidents, a university professor was killed in a residential area and another nine men died in six separate incidents.

Ciudad Juarez, across from El Paso, Texas, is Mexico's deadliest city with more than 1,700 killings so far this year.
